Last Sunday (22nd December) Watford is welcoming Manchester United at Vicarage Road. The host sits at the bottom of the premier league with 9 points after 17 matchdays while United sits on the eighth place with 25 points after 17 games.
Both team have some chances during the first half, especially when Jessie Lingard run pass the watford defender and chipped the ball that landed on the goal roof. Nothing really happened during the first half, the only closest chance for The Red Devil is only when Lingard chips the ball past Ben Foster.
But less than 5 minutes into the second half Ismaïla Sarr score a goal to give Watford a 1-0 lead. The error comes from one United best player David De Gea. He clearly have the wrong timing trying to catch the ball, we can see it from his reaction that his it was an awful mistake. The goal that Watford scored is clearly an individual mistake rather than the team system fault. It can be seen that De Gea is suferring from the lack of confidence and his performance has been downgrading for the past years.
3 minutes later after De Gea horrible mistake that cost United to concede a goal, Lee Mason then given Watford a penalty when Aaron Wan-Bissaka slide on Ismaïla Sarr inside the penalty box. Luck’s on Watford side as the captain Troy Deeney makes it 2-0 to Watford. Man United had concede 2 goals in less than 6 minutes. There are a lot of times when Gerard Deulofeu causes trouble to the United defenders. But as the second half goes on The Red Devils have a lot of chances to attack and scored goal such as when Pogba passes a very beautiful ball to the youngster Mason Greenwood, but the ball that he chips is too long and it end up on the back of the net. After a lot of attempts from United the match finally end, with Watford gaining 3 points at home.
